The Saltburn Open 2022 brought surfers from around the North East and Yorkshire together for a day of competitive surfing at Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

I was there with my camera to capture the action, using Saltburn Pier as one of my main viewing points. Being higher up gave me a great view across the lineup and allowed me to follow the surfers as they caught waves and competed in their heats.

The pier also gave me a different perspective from my usual beach-level photographs, allowing me to capture the surfers alongside the waves and Saltburn coastline.

The competition featured a mixture of local surfers and competitors from further afield, with [add winners/competitors here] taking the top places.

For me, the event was another great opportunity to practise photographing competitive surfing and capturing the atmosphere of a surf competition at Saltburn.
